Alex Shaw
Alex Shaw - director

Alex has been working in property for over 15 years. His first development was the dividing of an old workshop into two mews flats in Wandsworth, London in 1991.

Since then he has gone on to redevelop numerous brownfield sites in the UK and USA. His approach has been to create interesting, affordable spaces in areas often overlooked by traditional developers.

His skill has been in identifying up and coming urban and rural locations before anyone else and then gaining planning permission for innovative schemes within these areas.

He was integral in achieving one of the first live/work consents in Britain's cities and the first to achieve a rural live/work consent in the UK.

He was also involved in obtaining the first residential consent in an employment area in Hackney and the first live/work consent in Lambeth. Alex was part of the team that developed some of the first New York-style lofts in Britain.

He is an advocate of good contemporary design and this is reflected in the style Spaceworks has developed over the past 10 years. The company is currently concentrating on projects outside London, enjoying particular success with rural regeneration schemes.

Alex is married, has two children and lives in Berkshire.
